Blaze at furniture workshop in Daventry
Firefighters were called out to Home Joinery’s workshop in Station Close shortly after 4.20pm.
Station manager Jason Urbani at the scene said: “Two fire appliances were dispatched – further information was then received by Fire Control saying there was a large quantity of smoke coming from the building, so automatically a third appliance was dispatched.

Hide Ad“Our crews were faced with a fire that was believed to be on a mezzanine floor in the single storey building which was smoke-logged and affecting both adjacent properties.
“We were informed there were no people inside the building.
“The fire service deployed a number of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
“The main fire was out after about 45 minutes. We then spent a further 60 minutes checking the building for secondary fires or hot spots, before closing the incident down at around 6pm.
“Fire investigators will now examine the building to try and determine the cause of the fire.”

Hide AdWhile they were tackling the blaze Station Road was closed, as was part of Vicar Lane.
Home Joinery has two units on Station Close – the firm’s showroom is believed not to have been affected by the fire.
