McDonald's trials takeaways at M1 services in Northamptonshire

Hungry motorway drivers can now refuel at McDonald's at one of Northamptonshire's M1 services.
The burger giants outlet on the southbound side of the M1 at Watford Gap is open for takeaways today (Wednesday) as the latest step towards getting Big Macs back on the menu.

Hide AdMcDonald's are trialing stringent safety measures for walk-in customers at 11 motorway stop-offs across the UK before rolling them out nationwide.
A spokesman for McDonald's said: " Perspex screens, floor markings, gloves for customer facing employees and face coverings are just some of the measures introduced to keep you and our teams safe.
"Fewer self-order screens will be switched on and these will sanitised at least every 30 minutes — although you can also order via the My McDonald’s app
"It will look a little different and may take a little longer as we put the safety of our employees and customers first and we will be serving a limited menu over reduced hours, from 11am to 10pm.

"We are preparing to reopen more restaurants for takeaway and will update you in the coming weeks."
McDonald's started opening its Northamptonshire restaurants for drive-thru and delivery customers only a fortnight ago, prompting huge queues as burger fans rushed to get their fast-food fix.
