ALL the joys of the big top will be coming to a Daventry village next Saturday.
Fred’s Flying Circus will be coming to the Brodie Lodge Playing Field in Flore to perform two shows and host a workshop.
The company, which is based in Sussex and was set up in 1988, features performances from son and daughter Fred and China Deliu
s and China’s fiance Sam Olver.
Their 45-minute act includes unicycling, magic, dance illusions and a juggling finale and is suitable for all ages.
The first show will start at 1.30pm, while the second will be at 3pm.
Fred and China will also be doing a workshop encouraging children and adults to practise their magic skills and learn how to juggle with scarves and balls, spin plates, balance and clown around from noon-12.45pm.
Participants will be encouraged to work together while performing the skills they have learned.
Wendy Delius, manager of the circus, said: “It is good family show that appeals to children because it is mainly comedy and mayhem.
“The children also love coming into the workshops and learning new skills and they can’t wait to show them off.”
The circus is appearing courtesy of Northants Touring Arts scheme, which brings the arts to villages across Northam-ptonshire. The Brodie Lodge Playing Field Committee joined forces with Northants Touring Arts to organise the circus in Flore, with both organisations paying half towards the cost.
Jill Hodgkinson, member of the Brodie Lodge Playing Field Committee, said: “We have a lot of different things that will make us money, including the car boot sales, but we wanted to do something else.
“We are always looking at different fundraising ideas and this struck me as something rather different and hopefully the children will really like it.”
Tickets cost £10 for a family (two adults and two children), £3 for adults and £2.50 for children from Jill on 01327 341429 or on the day. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cream teas will be served at the playing field by members of the committee.
