FLORE Boards are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a new production.
The group will take to the stage to perform ‘Laughter in the Dark’ by Victor Lucas at the Millenium Hall Flore from today (Thursday) until Saturday.

The play is set in the 1950s at a haunted house where relatives turn up for the reading of a will only to find a few things go bump in the night.

Director Margaret Clarke said: “It is a comedy thriller though we would describe it as more of a comedy piece.”

“It’s been great working with this cast, they have been a great delight.

“It is a very supportive group and we all look after each other and we can’t wait for the show to get started.”

Danetre Rotary Club, working with Flore Boards, organised a special performance of Laughter in the Dark yesterday (Wednesday) to raise money for local charities including Pete Spencer’s Helping Hands Memorial Fund, Young Carers and the Badby Day Nursery.

It is the second year Flore Boards have supported the the club.

The group was originally set up in March 1998 by mothers whose children went to Flore Primary School, after they started performing pantomimes at the school.

They have since moved away from traditional pantomimes to do straight plays with a comedy edge and have occasionally done sketch shows.

Rosemary Read, secretary for the group, said: “I think we have got better over the years.

“The standard of the group has got better as we have started to tackle different material.”

Membership of the group is increasing all the time but there are no set plans for future performances.

Margaret said: “The group is a democracy, so while there has been a lot of discussion about the next project, we haven’t made a decision about what it will be.”
