AN ARTIST from Welton is selling some of her work to help raise money for charity.
Painter Jacqueline Read is donating 20 per cent of all painting sales from her studio to the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.
It is the only organisation in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of torture survivors with branches across the United Kingdom and provides rehabilitation and support to people forced to flee their homelands as a result of torture or organised violence.
Jacqueliene said: “I first became involved with the Medical Foundation about eight years ago and since then supporting victims of torture has become a feature of all my painting sales.”
Her work is mainly oil on canvas work and has featured in exhibitions in Northamptonshire, London and Egypt with her work showing a variety of themes including flowers, horses and water. Having her own studio has enabled Jacqueline to help her charity.
She added: “As an artist, I have to pay huge commissions if my work sells through a gallery.
“When I sell from my studio, I can sell at much lower prices and save enormously on commission, which I am happy to pass on to help victims of torture at the MF.”
Her exhibition is on-going until next Sunday, September 14, at her studio at 17 Ashby Road, Welton, and is open from noon to 3pm. each day.
