A MUSIC evening has raised £1,000 for a new play area at a village school.
Around 80 people turned up to the event organised by Byfield PTA to help raise money for equipment for new covered play area currently being built at Byfield Primary School.

Local bands took to the stage along with performers from Daventry, Woodfo
rd Halse and Towcester, some of whom were ex-pupils of the school.

PTA member Heather Prestidge, who helped organise the event, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant night and I can’t believe that we raised so much money.

“The whole night was amazing and a very enjoyable.”

It was the first time Byfield PTA had held a music evening as usually it arranges cabaret evenings in a bid to raise school funds.

Heather said: “There was so many great moments.

“It was a pleasure to see so many great performers on the night who were warmly appreciated by the audience.

“It was a great showcase for many great talents in the area.”

The evening, held on March 29, saw a variety of music performed from rock to sounds inspired by the Blues Brothers.

It was supported by past and present pupils who attended with their parents, family and friends.

The covered play area is currently being built and is expected to be finished in about three weeks time.
