A POPULAR Daventry band have landed their first headline gig in London.
Four-piece rock band The Royal Finger Puppets will be performing at the Hope and Anchor in Upper Street, Islington on Bank Holiday Monday (Monday).
They will be supported by two other groups at the gig, which will start at 7.30pm.
The group’s singer Keith Moreman said: “We are obviously quite happy about appearing in London and headlining our first gig in the capital. We have been keeping a low profile while we have been working on some new material. We are seeing this as a chance for a bit of a relaunch for the band.”
The band were asked to perform at the gig following a previous performance in London.
Keith added: “We were performing a gig down in Camden and there was a promoter at the event and he liked what he heard. We were then approached to headline at this gig and we were happy to accept.
“We have not played at this venue but we have a good idea of what it will be like and hopefully it will be a great night.”
The Royal Finger Puppets have been working on some new material which they hope will go down well with fans.
Keith said: “We have been perfecting it for the past few months and I think it will be a lot like some of our previous material. What we have been doing is hopefully enhancing the sound we were producing already and making something better.
“There is still enormous interest in the group. Our website still gets a lot of hits each day.”
For those who can not get to London, The Royal Finger Puppets will be performing in Daventry at The George the day before as part of the St James Street pub’s Sunday Sessions, which starts at 8pm.
The band are also looking to record a new album and go on tour.
Keith added: “We will be looking to record material for a new album in the future while we will be looking to speak to promoters and see if we can arrange gigs in places such as London, Birmingham and Nottingham.”
The Royal Finger Puppets will be performing at the Hope and Anchor at about 10pm.
Tickets cost £6 for adults and can be bought on the door.
