AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD will leave you asking for more when he takes to the stage in Oliver.
William Miles' will be playing the title role in Northampton Amateur Operatic Company's version of Lionel Bart's Oliver.
It will be the first time the Long Buckby Junior School pupil has appeared on stage when the performs at the Derngate in Northampton from Tuesday.
William's mum Victoria said he was delighted about landing the role following auditions in early June.
She said: "I think what helped when he was auditioning for the role is that Oliver is one of his favourite films.
"He has watched the film so many times that he knew all of the words to all of the songs so when they asked if there was anybody who knew the words he was able to sing Food Glorious Food."
William, of Kingston Close, Long Buckby, will be opening and closing the musical and performing in a total of four shows on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights and the Friday afternoon matinee.
He is sharing the role of Oliver with Michael Kempster from East Hunsbury, who will also be doing four shows.
Victoria added: "I think he is quite a confident boy but I think he's been a little overwhelmed at the size of the role in the last few weeks.
"It has also given him lots of focus and enabled him to concentrate on the production.
"The school has been really supportive and they are thrilled he is in the production.
"Given that this is the first time he has been on the stage, he has coped really well with the acting but he is very musical and he is always singing songs."
Jayne Minter-Morgan, one of the cast members, said: "It is a great show that has made all the difference by having a professional director in Scott St. Martin doing the production.
"I have been in Oliver before and this has been the best production I have been in."
Oliver is a family-friendly show suitable packed full of classic songs including Consider Yourself, I'd Do Anything and Oom-Pah-Pah.
The show will be at the Derngate from Tuesday until Saturday, with two performances on Friday and Saturday. The tickets cost between £10 and £22.
