A NEW club night for youngsters will be launched in Daventry this weekend.
Rave It at the Phoenix Centre is aimed at for 11-15-year-olds.
The launch on Saturday comes after the centre, in Ashby Road, held a trial night at the beginning of last month which was a big hit with the youngsters.
Katie Jones, young activitie
s co-ordinator at the centre, said: “We wanted to do something for our younger members and something that had a very wide appeal.
“When we had our first night, we set the whole thing up like a nightclub and it was an absolutely fantastic success. All of the youngsters that turned up really enjoyed themselves.
“The youngsters are loving coming up to the youth cafe so it seemed like a natural step up to do these club nights.”
The night will feature DJs playing chart, pop, indie and dance music from 7pm and entrance will be free.
Katie added: “I think these club nights will be a great success.
“Everybody who has said anything to me about the trial night we had has said they really enjoyed it, so we hope many people turn up.”
The next Rave It night will be held on July 18.
Other nights coming up at the Phoenix Centre include live music on July 19 and a Beatz n Bass night on August 2. Music nights are just some of the many activities held at the Phoenix Centre.
The Indigo Youth Cafe inside the centre holds drop-in sessions on Friday from 6-9pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon-4pm, giving youngsters chance to chill out.
Regular Open Dex sessions are also held to give up-and-coming DJs the chance to perform in front of a live crowd.
Beginner and improver sessions for aspiring performers will be held on Wednesday, which will enable people to hone their skills.
