A proper hall but not here

WITH regard to the comments made in last week's Daventry Express, I would like to make it quite clear that as a resident of Daneholme Avenue I am not in any way opposed to the brass band continuing as a group and do agree that it does a good job and provides enjoyable entertainment. It does deserve a purpose-built hall, but a residential area is not the right place to built it.
Even if the hall were only used for the band, I understand that the band uses far more than 11 parking spaces close to its present venue.

Also I am concerned because we have been made to understand that the new hall will be used for many other functions: including rock bands, dog training and even functions such as weddings.

Therefore, the use of the hall is obviously going to amount to much more than two practice sessions per week.

In reply to Allan Meller's letter, the plans, which were put forward last year, were in fact officially cancelled and we, the residents, received notification that the idea of building the hall on the land had been discarded.
