Once again I read with disbelief the short-sightedness of Daventry District Council (DDC).
A multi-purpose hall would have been a fantastic facility for the people of Daventry, providing local groups with somewhere to showcase their not inconsiderable talents.
It would have also encouraged nationwide performers to come into town providi
ng the people with a superb entertainment venue. Instead of that we are told it may possibly happen after the houses are built. What a load of poppycock! Why should we believe a single word DDC tells us.
Unless I'm very much mistaken they are planning to build another tertiary college in the so called learning quarter, is this really a good use of £30 million when we already have one?!
When the multi-purpose hall was proposed it was met with overwhelming support by the people of the town, unlike the pods and canal arm. It seems that whatever Chris Millar wants Chris Millar gets and heaven help anybody who disagrees with him.
I suppose that's what happens when one party has such a massive majority in a town. Are there any district councillors that live here and if so why are they not representing the townspeople's thoughts?
Perhaps in the future when Daventry is some sink town with thousands of houses and nowhere to go we can ship out the disgruntled townspeople via pod or narrow boat to the surrounding villages that house the majority of the district councillors and show them just how proud of our town we are!
Wake up DDC and start thinking about the people you represent because the majority of us are really not impressed.
