Every night I park my car outside my house for the night, as many people do. On Wednesday night, my car was randomly targeted and broken into!
The driver's door was forced open and damaged and the steering column was damaged, presumably trying to steal the car. Not a very nice thing to experience.
What I want is for whoever is responsible for this damage to my car to know (and anyone els
e who is considering breaking into someone's car to steal it, joy ride, or just for the fun of it) that the people that you target have their lives turned upside down by your actions.
Now, you may think that "its okay because they can claim on their insurance!" Let me tell you something that I have discovered since Thursday morning. Your car may have just passed its MOT and is in good working order, but the insurance company assessor tells you that the car is not worth the cost of the repairs – a new door, new steering wheel and lock, re-spray and VAT! They will write off the car, pay the lowest book price, less the excess fee of £200 that I have to pay!
So I am now faced with knowing that I had a car that got me to work etc, and now shall have no car because the insurance won't pay for it to be repaired. My car will probably be sold for next to nothing for scrap or to someone who can afford to repair it and sell it on!
This leaves me with a pittance to buy a much older car that I will probably have to pay out more money for to make it as safe as my other car so I can get on with my life again.
Please think about it. You may be having lots of fun and thrills, but you're wrecking innocent people's lives and causing a lot of stress, heartache, expense and worry along the way.
Unless something like this happens to you personally, you will never know or understand how horrible it is, what a waste of time, energy and money it creates and how upsetting it is too.
I forgive you for what you have done to my car, but I hate what you have put me through. Why did you do it? I shall never know because you are too cowardly to own up to it and really think about what you have done and how your actions affect other people.
