The BBC covered a story recently that local councils are being urged to stop using CCTV facilities to spy and issue fines to citizens on minor offences such as littering and pet defecation.
And rather use it as it was meant to be intended for more serious offences like antisocial behaviour, fly-tipping, and as record in the event surveillance was required for a more serious criminal event.
I would be interested to know what our local council uses its CCTV facilities for; if they fall into this category or if they use it for its original purposes to protect its law abiding citizens.
