Despair at monstrosities

As the monstrosities on the first site to be developed rise to dominate the edge of our town centre I am in despair at the so-called 'vision' of Daventry District Council (DDC).
The retail units are huge, ugly and totally out of keeping with an historic town centre. I know I am not alone in my opinion.

But on a positive note I must thank Councillor Over for his letter to The Gusher last week, and his concern that development should not take place in close proximity to the Country Park.

At least a meadow's width to separate the park and the proposed new housing estate makes good sense – not only for the obvious protection of any wildlife, but also for the overall character of the park.

The people of the town have consistently (over the last two-three years) written to your paper saying they do not want the 'vision' that DDC is thrusting upon us. We have been ignored.

Please would DDC at least listen to an urgent plea that any huge development does not encroach on the environs of our lovely (and loved) Country Park.
