I THINK it is great that the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation wants to see Daventry have a bigger and better library in the future.
Reading your article in the Daventry Express last week I think this is an opportunity for Daventry to once again get a public museum space and information point for tourists and visitors as well as creating a building fit for the future, and it should be supported by everyone.

All too often we can be cynical about the proposals to expand the town and redevelop its centre, with ideas like the canal basin and pod network seeming to be plucked from some council planner's dreams.

But getting a better replacement for the library is an achieveable goal that would benefit thousands of people both in the town and surrounding villages.

The current building was never designed as a public library and will be demolished to make way for shops, so this is a golden opportunity for the town to improve on a well-used and much loved facility.

Everyone who cares about the town should get behind this project and push to make sure Daventry gets what it deserves – a top class library for the 21st century.
