I TOTALLY agree with Ruth Kent (Letters, Daventry Express, August 14).
I am sure most of us are in despair of the monstrosities which are already dominating the edge of town on the site of the old Working Men's Club.
However this was passed by the planning committee of the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) at a meeting attended by few members of the public and some members of the Daventry and District Civic Society, whose vice-chairman spoke against the design and the materials to be used near to the council offices and Holy Cross Church.

Ruth Kent goes on to thank councillor Chris Over for his concern that development should not take place in close proximity to the Country Park.

I totally agree with this but it is up to all of us to make a strong stand against any proposals that threaten this beautiful place. We must attend all consultations, lobby our local councillors and the members of the WNDC.

People power must be seen to be working throughout all the phases of this consultation.

Come on Daventry show them that we mean business, to use a famous quotation 'up with this we will not put'
