Another athletics season has come and gone and still no sign of developing the track and facilities at Stefen Hill.
Thanks only to a small and dedicated number of coaches who give advice and encouragement to a similarly small number of athletes does the club manage to survive.

The facility is deemed "unfit for business" by the athletics authorities and as a result all Daventry's host meetings have to be held at Leamington Spa. The track resembles more a speedway circuit and after heavy rain, certain parts of it – a pond.

Other towns in the area of similar size – Rugby, Kettering, Corby – all have excellent facilities that encourage the youth to get involved. None but those who already take an interest in track and field are likely to be tempted to do so
in Daventry.

About £1m would give the town a track and facilities to be proud of. What chances are there of getting some money and impetus behind and into the club?

Come on Daventry District Council what about it ? Would it be so neglected if it were in view of the council offices?
