THE air ambulance is set to benefit even more from increased textile collections across the Daventry district.
Daventry District Council (DDC) has arranged additional collections for people wanting to recycle their unwanted clothes, shoes, linen, curtains and soft toys
DB Collections, which picks up the materials for recycling and gives £50 per tonne to th
e Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, will now call at homes every other month.
Catherine Boardman, environment portfolio holder for DDC, said: “The collections have proved to be very popular with residents and we would like to thank all residents who have supported the scheme so far.
“Feedback has suggested that people want more collections so, from September, these will be every two months rather than every three.
“Not only is this helping us recycle more of our unwanted goods but also helping the air ambulance keep flying to help people across the region.”
So far the scheme has raised £3,4000 for the air ambulance, which relies solely on donations to keep it flying.
Residents can put the textile in special bags provided by DBD Collections and put them outside on the pick-up day.
