A DAVENTRY district councillor spent the day learning the ropes of being a firefighter with the crew at the local station.
Annette Dunn joined the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue team at Daventry Fire Station in Staverton Road recently where she was shown the ins and outs of the fire engines and how to use the different types of equipment.

The crew filled a room full of smoke and Cllr Dunn had to go inside and retrieve an object. She also attended a safety event with them at Braunston Village Hall.

She said: “It was an excellent day. It was very worthwhile.

“It was nice to have the opportunity to join them and learn a bit more about the working of a firefighter.”

Cllr Dunn has shared her ‘day in the life of a firefighter’ experience with the children at St James Infant School in Daventry during a special assembly.
