AN OLD factory will be demolished in Long Buckby to make way for new homes.
PHI Design Ltd in Miles Lane will be knocked down and replaced with seven houses, which will be a mix of two, three and four bedrooms. Long Buckby Parish Council and neighbours objected to the plans, saying they feared the development would cause parking problems and increase traffic.
Speaking at a Daventry District Council (DDC) planning committee meeting earlier this month, Cllr Steve Osborne, who is also the chairman of Long Buckby Parish Council, said: “For the first time in seven years, I don’t support the parish council’s views.
“I think this would be a planning gain.
“Every week they’ve got a lorry there to unload – it’s a terrible place.
“The sooner that business is moved somewhere else and it becomes residential the better.”
Planning officers said that five of the homes would be accessed by private driveways, which would help ease the problem of people parking in the street.
Councillors agreed that the application should be given the go-ahead.
