A DAVENTRY businessman who has been repeatedly targeted by thieves says he is 'fed up' with the town.
Dave Burnham, of Burnham Landscapes in Browns Road, arrived at work on Tuesday morning to find that his yard had once again been broken into. Between 6pm on Monday night and 7am the following morning thieves had cut through a padlock and broken into
the yard to take a trailer.

Mr Burnham said: “From here since December we’ve had five trailers, one mini-digger, and a £11,000 mowing machine stolen. In all it’s £30,000.

“I don’t believe the police are doing what they should be and following up the leads we’ve given them.

“It’s £10,000 for CCTV cameras and that’s money we won’t get back.

“It’s ridiculous. I’ve been here 18 years – when I was first here I was on my own.

“I’m a Daventry man, but I feel like if this continues I will pack up and move out of town. I’m fed up with Daventry now.”

Other businesses along Browns Road say they have not faced similar problems.

Damon Boniface from Grovenor car sales said: “We’ve not had any issues really. I don’t know if Burnham’s is having these problems because they’re that bit more isolated than us.”

The trailer taken this time was a galvanised drop-side trailer with four wheels and fitted with mesh and ramps, which is possibly carrying a part registration of BN55.

The thief bolt-cropped the padlock on the security gates, entered the yard and removed the trailer, travelling off down Browns Road before heading either towards Leamington, Northampton or Rugby.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Northamptonshire Police on 08453 700700, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
