YOUNGSTERS from a primary school have won a regional sports award.
Twenty children from Barby Primary School competed in various track and field events against other schools across South Northamptonshire at the Sports Park in Daventry earlier this month.

As a result of the perfomances by the 20 pupils, including a personal triumph for eight-year-old Lucy Marks who won the 60-metre sprint, the school won the South Northants District Sports Award.

Denise Beech, a teacher and PE co-ordinator at the school, said: “We were overjoyed when we won the award. Because we are a small school we don’t usually get anywhere so we’re really pleased. All of the children really enjoyed themselves and they loved doing all the events.”
