MUSEUM artefacts hidden away in a store will be taken over by Daventry Town Council.
Daventry District Council closed the town’s museum in the Moot Hall in 2004 and was arranging to ‘disperse’ the items held in its museum artefacts store in Austin Way.

Daventry Town Council, which runs its own museum from its base in Bishops Crewe House in North Street, has agreed at a meeting earlier this month to take over the lease and manage the store.

It was agreed the town clerk would negotiate the terms and conditions of the take over with the district council and report to the next meeting of the community services committee.

It would cost the council around £4,000 a year to take over the lease and members agreed a possible contribution from the Friends of Daventry Museum would be looked into.
