A SHOPKEEPER and his wife has been assaulted in a racist attack.
Two men with east European accents entered the Orchard Street store in Drayton, Daventry, and bought a lottery ticket at around 5.15pm on Saturday.

They returned to the store and one of the men disputed the sale claiming the female shopkeeper had cheated him out of the money and shouted racist abuse at her.

The man grabbed her by the arm and dragged her towards the door, injuring her arm. His friend tried to calm him down without success.

When the woman's husband came to her aid he was punched in the chest and further racial abuse was shouted.

The man eventually left in a blue car with his friend and two women. He is described as white, in his mid 20s, of stocky build and about 5ft 10ins with a skinhead haircut. He was wearing a striped blue top and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 03000 111 222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
