Cars parked in a village street had their tyres slashed last week in the latest of a string of vehicle crimes in the area.
Residents in Kings Corner Close, Woodford Halse, woke up last Wednesday morning to find six cars with their tyres punctured.
Some only had two tyres punctured while others had all four slashed during the spree, which happened some time during Tues
day night.
Tom Aldsby, who lives in Kings Corner Close, said: “I came out to see my car parked outside and found that two of the tyres had been slashed.”
Mr Aldsby had only recently bought new tyres for the car. He added: “Those new tyres cost me a lot of money and I was appalled when I saw what had happened.”
Sara Morris, also a resident of Kings Corner Close, said: “I just couldn’t believe it when I saw that everyone’s tyres had been slashed.”
Police believe the offender could live locally.
The attack comes after a recent spate of break-ins from vans and cars in the Woodford area, where tools have been stolen.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “There has been a series of thefts from vehicles in Woodford Halse as well as other villages around Daventry during the last month. The offenders have been targeting vehicles which contain tools and stealing them.”
Police are taking action in a bid to stop this problem and have asked for help from people living in the area.
The spokesman added: “We have increased patrols of the villages in the area and are encouraging anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered any tools for sale in suspicious circumstances.”
