CHARITY shop customers helped spread the festive cheer by raising nearly £1,000.
Customers at the British Heart Foundation shop in Bowen Square helped raise £980 for the charity by buying raffle tickets to win a seasonal hamper at £1 a go in the run up to Christmas.

The winning ticket, belonging to Mrs Crosby from Daventry, was drawn by a member of the public on Monday last week (December 22).

Store manager Yvonne Goodsell said: “It’s amazing that we raised that much money and I have to say a great big thank you to all our customers for supporting this and the shop throughout the year.

“I also have to thank the volunteers who help run the shop - without them it wouldn’t be possible.

“To thank them, and to mark the shop’s fourth anniversary on Christmas Eve, we had a buffet with the regional manager.”

Lloyds TSB and Argos in the town both helped sell tickets for the raffle, as the heart foundation is both company’s national chosen charity for the year.

Money raised from the raffle will go to the charity’s general fund, used to pay for research into heart disease, prevention work, and specialist nurses and support.

The shop’s next fundraising campaign will be Red for Heart in February which is national heart month.
