HARDWORKING volunteers at a town centre charity shop have been named the best in the country.
Salvation Army shop manager Kellie Such said she was ‘ecstatic’ that the volunteers at the Bowen Square store in Daventry had won the award.

The team of 10 were presented with a certificate for Volunteer of the Year Award for the Salvation Army.

Mrs Such said: “It’s really good. We are like one big happy family here.”

When Mrs Such took over the running of the shop three years ago, there were just two volunteers at the time.

She has successfully taken on eight more who have all worked there ever since.

Mrs Such said: “They have all been constant.

“Between them they do around 90 hours a week and they come from all walks of life.

“They feel rewarded because they are raising money for the Salvation Army and others less fortunate than us.”
