A ROAD pock-marked with potholes highlighted by the Daventry Express is set to be resurfaced.
The state of Leamington Way, part of the town’s ring road from the Maple Leaf Roundabout on Braunston Road to the junction with Royal Oak Way South, was brought to the attention of Northamptonshire County Council after a reader contacted the paper ab
out potholes along the road that have been repeatedly filled only to reopen.
After the information was passed onto the county council and its highways department the route was inspected by contractors and from Tuesday the stretch will be shut for resurfacing works.
A council spokesman said: “MGWSP, our highways partner, will be carrying out various works on the A425 near Daventry to include kerbside and resurfacing works.
“While the resurfacing works are taking place the road will need to be closed for health and safety reasons on Tuesday, May 6 and diversions will be in place while it is closed.
“The estimated completion date of all road works is Monday May 27.”
The sad state of Leamington Way was first raised by Paul Corbett, from the Timken estate, who contacted the Gusher in January.
At the time he described Daventry’s roads as ‘laughable’ saying the town’s main roads were failing because they were built before the industrial estates around the town expanded bringing in more heavy vehicles.
Another reader has contacted the paper about the cats eyes along the A361 south of Daventry.
The safety reflectors along the length of the route to the county boarder with Oxfordshire appear not to be working, causing potential problems for any motorist using the winding road after dark.
Now the county council has confirmed repairs to faulty cats eyes along the A361 will take place within 12 months.
