STUDENTS from Daventry are helping improve access at one of the nation's most iconic tourist attractions.
Six pupils on the supported learning access to college and education course at Northampton College’s Daventry campus have been working with the Royal Armouries to study the accessibility of an exhibition in the Tower of London.

It is hoped the feedback from the pupils could lead to changes being made to exhibitions within the tower to allow more people to find out about the building’s and nation’s history.

Course tutor Lesley Boddy said: “The students have been down to the tower on three occasions and are looking at how many people go into the White Tower and how many of them choose to go into this exhibition. The exhibition has accessibility issues because it’s in an old building.

“The students have also looked at the display, which is an interactive one called Hands on History to do with weapons and armour.

“A lot of it you need to read to get involved with so the students have said it would be nice if it could speak to them.”

The students’ study and suggestions for improvements, will be presented to representatives from the college and Royal Armouries.
