WALKERS wound their way around the seven parishes of the Daventry Team Ministry on Sunday.
A team of parishioners set out from Holy Cross Church in Daventry to walk around the churches in the team to mark Rogation Sunday.

The group walked 13 miles from Daventry to Welton, Ashby St Ledgers, Braunston, Staverton, Catesby and finished in Hellidon with a buffet tea and a songs of praise service.

The Reverend Claire Rose-Casemore, of Braunston’s All Saints, said: “The walk was to build the team up - seven parishes work together in the Daventry team.

“We’re trying to help each other out with the Parish Share – the sum of money we have to pay to the diocese each year.”

One reason behind the walk was to try to raise money to cover the costs of running the parish churches.

Each year the diocese asks parish churches for a sum of money to cover all the costs of maintaining the buildings and running the ministry.

The Daventry team of ministries works together to help each other raise money to cover these costs and money raised by the Rogation Walk will go towards this.
