PLANS for a wind farm near Brixworth have been on public display ahead of being formally submitted at the end of the month.
Bolderstone invited members of the local community along to a public exhibition of its proposals for Brixworth Wind Farm.

The plans would see six 125-metre tall turbines built on land to the north of the village.

The event, in Brixworth Village Hall on Monday and Tuesday last week saw around 400 people head along to find out more about the scheme and have their questions answered by representatives of the company.

Bolderstone director Mike Corker said: “People were asking about absolutely everything, from how we get turbines on site and how we put them up, to how they work.

“We also had people asking about the community fund we are planning as many thought the money would be siphoned off to Daventry and spread across the whole district, rather than being used locally.

“What we want to do is set up the community fund with local people administering it to direct the fund to environmental and energy-saving measures in the locality.

“There was a lot of support for energy-saving ideas, like energy-saving lightbulbs and insulation, and what we are actively seeking are ideas for the fund to be used for and for local people who want to administer it.”

The company has said it expects to submit a planning application for the turbines to Daventry District Council at the end of August.

A further application for the underground cables to connect the site to the electricity grid will follow.

Anyone who wants more information on the plans can visit www.brixworth windfarm.co.uk.

n A NEW website has been launched to help people find out more about a wind farm planned for Yelvertoft.

People who visit www. daventrywindfarm.com can keep up to date with Your Energy’s proposals for the site near the village.

The company is expecting to submit a planning application for the site to Daventry District Council in the autumn, and is holding public exhibitions of its plans on Monday, September 1 in Crick’s Old School, on September 2 at Yelvertoft Village Hall, and on September 3 at Lilbourne Village Hall.

All three take place between 3 and 9pm.
