A NEW website has been set up by a Norton resident to give people information about the proposed Daventry expansion plans.
Mike Jenkins launched www.daventrycalling.org to let people find out about the Church Fields, Monskmoor and Danetree Village planning applications and the impact the potential developments could have not only on local wildlife and communities, but al
so on the wider Daventry and Northamptonshire area.

Issues highlighted include the impact on Daventry Country Park, an important wildlife site, and Borough Hill which contains rare habitats and nationally-important archaeology.

The site says there might not be enough local jobs for the new people moving into the area, that town centre car parking wouldn’t be able to cope with the increased numbers of shoppers, and that many will commute along the already crowded roads in the area.

Mr Jenkins said: “One of the reasons for the website is because I don’t think some of the issues have been explained properly to the people of Daventry.

“In particular I don’t think there’s an appreciation of exactly what will be lost – that’s why the site has photos to show people what’s at stake.

“The website also contains links to people individuals can complain to.

He added: “Daventry District Council doesn’t appear to be listening to people of the town and there’s a simple reason for that because the people of Daventry don’t elect most of them.

“Even if people in the town wanted to get rid of them they couldn’t.”
