Badby's high-scoring draw
Badby's belated start to the season in Division Seven yielded a high-scoring draw with Yelvertoft, who held out for a 192 for eight in reply to the home team's imposing total of 219 for six.
Top scorer for Badby was
A. Humphries with 68 runs. Alan Standish scored 44 and M. Smith hit a quick fire 32 to make a respectable total.
Yelvertoft stuck to the task with Paul Brown taking two wickets for 64 in a 13 overs and Aaron Ellis two for 53 in 11 overs.
Yelvertoft decided to play for the draw when opener Andrew O'Neill was bowled for a solid 51. Toft finished on 192 for eight in 45 overs.
After only two matches none of the teams at this level still have 100 per cent records and Badby trail leaders Weekley IIs by only 17 points.
In Division Two, East Haddon (223 for five) narrowly missed out on an early season hat-trick of victories when the last wicket pair held out for a draw at 211 for nine after a defiant knock of 87 from Leon Van Rooyen.
Earlier, East Haddon's opening pair Chris Henderson (84) and David Browne (62) had shared a stand of 124.
Then James Medlin got to work with the ball by taking five wickets for 64 runs.
Long Buckby's good start to the Division Three campaign was maintained by a three-wicket win over Kempston Hammers (167 all out).
Gary Reeve and Stuart Clarke shared six wickets.
Rob Wykes (41) and Richard Bott (34) then led the victory charge to 168 for seven, with only two balls to spare, while Guilsborough and Ashby Timken played out a drawn derby in Division Four.
John Elder hit an unbeaten century for Guilsborough after an opening partnership of 95, with Jamie Forest (60) as the total climbed to 238 for four, before the Cold Ashby side was restricted to 164 for six.
Openers Mark Macmain and Mark Robson both scored half centuries.
West Haddon (204 for three) and Rushton IIs (255 for five declared) engaged in a high-scoring draw at the same level, with Phil Perryman making an unbeaten 68 and Thomas Barker scoring 124 for Rushton.
There was a similar outcome to the game between Wicken (227 for three) and Heyford (180 for seven), whose best performers were the Bastin brothers, with Darren scoring 59 not out and Rick taking three for 48.
Rob Spatcher (five for 46) and Paul Watford (40) could not prevent Kislingbury (119 for eight) coming off second best in a drawn Division Eight match with Wellingborough Indians IIIs (203 for seven).
Long Buckby IIs (105 for eight) completed a club double at the expense of County Hall (102 all out), who were destroyed by the bowling of Peter Incley (six for 19) and Mark Lewis (three for 31), before No. six batsman Dan McNally led the way with 33 not out.
Daventry (111) slumped to a third successive defeat in Division Nine at the hands of Thrapston IIs (113 for six), even though Stephen Grey scored 38.
Other results included: S and L IIs (169 for nine) lost to St Michaels 74 (171 for three), Ashby Timken IIs (73) lost to Barton Seagrave (74 for one), East Haddon IIs (222 for nine) drew with Stony Stratford IIIs (200 for seven), Harlestone IIs (201 for five) lost to Bold Dragoon (205 for five), Bugbrooke IIs (185 for six) beat Badby IIs (184 for eight), Heyford IIs beat Rushden IIIs by 52 runs.
