Big turnout for road race

The annual Weedon 10k Road Race took place in the village last week – and attracted a large contingent of runners.
The race which began in West Street, Weedon, was staged by the Weedon-based running club
Human Energy.

The race was part of the East Midlands Grand Prix series.
Race secretary Jennie Keech said the event had been a success with 305 runners taking part.

She said: "It was a good event and we did really well on the
cake stall."

The men's winner was Nigel Stirk in a time of 32 minutes 39 seconds and the ladies' winner was Gemma Steel in a time of 37 minutes
25 seconds.

The men's team winner was Wootton Road Runners.
