Division Three leaders Long Buckby dropped down to third place in the table after the time-honoured village tennis tournament at Station Road led indirectly to the cancellation of Saturday's match against Rushden Town IIs.
Tennis always takes precedence on the village sports field on the weekend after Wimbledon but this year a change in Northamptonshire Cricket League rules prevented Long Buckby CC from switching the cricket match to a spare bank holiday Monday.

Ins
tead an alternative ground had to be found and Long Buckby had arranged to play near to Stony Stratford only for the game to be called off as early as last Thursday because of the wet weather.
With Wollaston and Loddington both winning in Division Three at the weekend Long Buckby dropped down to third because of the unavoidable cancellation.

In Division Two, East Haddon (138) were no match for Earls Barton (212 for nine) while at Division Four level our featured match saw Guilsborough (120) win a low-scoring match against Heyford (109).
Ashby Timken (171 for five) got the better of Rushton IIs (168 for four) but West Haddon (196) came off second best against Stony Stratford IIs (255 for eight) after Steve Watson had scored a century for the victors. Phil Wright (four for 43) was West Haddon's best bowler.

Charles Underwood (65) and Mark Warren (40) were the architects of Harlestone's win over Geddington IIs (139) in a match which saw Harlestone lose only three wickets.
Gary Slinn and Nick Beesley both claimed three Geddington wickets while in Division Six Bugrooke were desperately unlucky to be held to a winning draw by ONs IVs.

Ian Street's innings of 35 not out helped Bugbrooke to a total of 147 for eight before Sam Reeve (five for 34) all but destroyed the ONs who just held out at 93 for nine.

The Kislingbury v East Haddon IIs game in Division Eight also balanced on a knife edge with Kislingbury posting 171 all out before their opponents scrambled home on 172 for nine.
Paul Watford (50) and Rob Spatcher (three for 34) were Kislingbury's best performers but Andy Pettifer (four for 49), Paul Redding (37) and Mike Fairey (35) were the match winners.

Daventry picked up a welcome 20 points for beating Obelisk in Division Nine before taking on Podington IIs across the county this Saturday.

Other fixtures include:
East Haddon v Overstone Park, Oundle v Long Buckby, Ashby Timken v Higham Ferrers, Guilsborough v Rushton IIs, West Haddon v Heyford, Brixworth II's v. Harlestone, St. Michaels 74 v Bugbrooke, Badby v Kibworth, Yelvertoft v O.G's II's, Long Buckby II's v Kislingbury.
