Cancer charity gets cash boost from golfing fun

Daventry Golf Club captain Nick Banham held his Captain's Day at the Norton Road Club last weekend.
The weather stayed fair and 70 members competed in an individual stableford competition, with prizes for men's
and ladies.

The Captain, supported by his wife and daughter, provided refreshments to all the competitors after nine holes.
Junior ca
ptain Chris Houghton challenged the men to a pitching competition after the main competition with the proceeds being donated to the captain's charity.

The members returned in the evening for the prize giving, buffet and live entertainment all provided by the captain. A raffle was held in aid of the captains charity with the prizes donated by the members and a total of £270 was raised on the day in aid of Macmillan Cancer
Research.

Results: Men's: 1st, Del Jackson 39pts; 2nd, Alan Read 39pts; 3rd, Chris Houghton 39pts; 4th, Norman
Cotton 30pts.

Ladies': 1st, Sue Adam 38pts; 2nd, Jean Poolton 37pts; 3rd: Bev Johnson 34pts.

Nigel Perry.
