Daventry see all batting frailties exposed
Daventry could be facing up to a long and hard season in Division Nine with batting frailties again exposed at the weekend by a 52-run reversal at the hands of Spencer in Northampton.
The visiting team were dismissed for only 81 runs, but Daventry, denied another promotion because of ground deficiencies, could manage only 29 in reply.
By contrast, East Haddon continued to go great guns after an opening day six-wicket victory over Earls Barton.
This time Overstone Park were on the receiving end of a five-wicket reversal.
Jeremy Medlin and Stuart Keeping shared eight cheap wickets as Overstone were bowled out for 118 (Michael Hale 34).
In response East Haddon reached their target at 119 for five.
Opening batsman Chris Henderson made 26 runs, but it was left to sixth-wicket pair Alex Jackman (36 not out) and James Houghton (17 not out) to deliver the coup de grace in an unbroken partnership of 48.
Former East Haddon batsman Greg Oliver (64 not out) was Long Buckby's match-winner in a closely-contested fixture with Oundle, who totalled 139 after an unbeaten half-century from Steve Brooks.
Adrian Flynn (five for 33) and Stuart Clarke (four for 31) put Buckby on the road to victory, but Sam Bevin scored only 14 runs following his opening week century.
In Division Four, Heyford (97 for four) were too good for West Haddon (93 all out), with David Livermore (three for 25), Simon Legge (32) and Craig Johnson (30 not out) the main contributors.
The best bowling performance of the day came at the same level from David Dowdeswell (six for 17 in 14 overs) as Ashby Timken (89 for four) easily overcame Higham Ferrers (87 all out).
