DAVENTRY Town's close links with Woodford United will be further cemented by a
pre-season friendly match on Saturday.
The Southern League club's junior teams play already in Daventry's purple and yellow strips after club chairmen Andy Worrall and Iain Humphrey struck up an instant rapport
last season.

That led to Town's top scorer Tom Berwick making a handful o
f loan appearances for the Reds leading to a crucial
winning goal at Rothwell in mid-December.

Woodford's visit to Communications Park will come five days before the Town end July with an
intriguing home encounter against UCL newcomers Harborough Town.

Daventry will also take on Whitworths (away) on July 19, Coalville (at home on July 29) and Sileby Rangers (home on August 5).

Meanwhile UCL Premier Division runners-up Long Buckby have already pencilled in seven friendlies climaxing in Rushden and Diamonds' visit to Station Road on August 5.

A short trip to the Royal Oak on July 19 will be preceded by games at Earls Barton (July 12) and at home to Sileby Rangers five days later.
Other fixtures involve Racing Warwick (away on July 26), Harpole (home on July 31) and Cranfield (away on
August 2).

Even so the ultimate in UCL pre-season friendlies involves champions Stotfold's clash with a Sparta Prague XI on
August 2.
