Daventry United are out of the FA Cup after conceding five goals in under an hour at Burnham-on-Crouch on Tuesday night but both Long Buckby and Daventry Town bounced back to form in the UCL Premier Division, writes Mike Tebbitt.
Essex League Burnham Ramblers were held to a goal-less draw on Saturday but ran riot in the extra preliminary round replay before Darran Foster’s men regained their pride through late goals from Rob Morgan, Joel Young and Luke Manders.

wn also wobbled early at bottom-of-the-table Rothwell Corinthians who took a 16th minute lead through the first of two well-taken goals from ex-Desborough Town striker Michael Coles.
Central defender Chris Godwin marked his debut as captain with a thunderbolt equaliser just before half-time after good work by John Cullen while man-of-the-match Paul Saunders had earlier headed onto the Corinthians’ crossbar.
Town then upped the tempo which resulted in Danny Nelson beating the offside trap for goal No.2 before setting up an excellent goal for Saunders. Coles got another one back for the home side in the 70th minute but a solo goal from Danny Finlay seconds later made sure of all three points.
Three late substitutions resulted in a belated debut for Martin Hutchcox who established an immediate rapport with Godwin in central defence as the Town maintained their unbeaten record on a night when S and L Corby made it three wins out of three with a 2-1 win over Cogenhoe.
The Bucks also got their act together following an abysmal FA Cup exit at home to Broxbourne Borough on Saturday. Manager Glenn Botterill was a happy man after a 20th minute opening goal from Jason Lee and two second half efforts from top scorer Ben Foster.
A temporary floodlight failure after 87 minutes at Kingsthorpe Mill caused a few anxious moments but the Buck’s always held too many guns for an inexperienced Northampton Spencer side.
In the Southern League’s Midlands Division Woodford United went down 1-0 at Leighton Town with Jason Gallan separating the two teams with a goal on the half hour.
Leamington were 2-1 winners over Nuneaton Town in front of a massive crowd of 1,051.
