Daventry Golf Club hosted the inaugural match in memory of past Captain and Secretary Ted Smith.
The annual challenge match between Ted's family and close friends and a team from the golf club was for The 'Ted Smith Memorial trophy'.
With each team having an uneven number of Ladies the format was an 18-hole individual stableford with the point
s scored by each player being added together for each team.
The result was an incredible 294 points for each team, the match being halfed.
After the match the teams were joined by other family members at a dinner held in the clubhouse and afterwards the Trophy was presented jointly to Daventry captain Nick Banham and Ted's brother Bob Smith by Mrs Evelyn Smith, Ted's widow.
Daventry Lady Captain Jean Poolton held her Captain's weekend at Patshull Park Golf Club and the Ladies had a very enjoyable time over the three days.
The overall winner was Jean McCormac.
Runner up was Beverly Johnson and third place was vice-captain Gill Leppard.
Nearest the pin was Sheila Bond. Longest drive, Karen Poolton.
Cecil Leitch results – Daventry Ladies' beat Silverstone Ladies' at Silverstone 4-3.
Daventry Ladies lost to Kingsthorpe Ladies at Kingsthorpe 4-3 and Daventry Ladies beat Silverstone Ladies at Daventry 6-1.
April Medal – Division 1, Guy Gibbins 84-12 Nett 72.
Division 2, Rich Elvy 84-15 Nett 69; Division 3, Peter Montgomery 92-21 Nett 71.
The April Medal was the qualifier for the Izzard Trophy and the following players will represent Daventry Golf Club. 1. Del Jackson (9), 2. Rich Elvy (15), 3. Peter Montgomery (21).
