Keen competition for ladies' open

Daventry Golf Club staged their Ladies' open with a field of 57 ladies from clubs throughout the county and beyond.
Winners were Molly Graham, Gill Rivers and Emma Maziak from Wellingborough Golf Club with 92 points.
In second place were Bev Johnson and Helen Primett, from Daventry, and Anne Goodchild, from Northampton Golf Club, with 90 points. Third place went
to Lin Johnson, Jean Poolton and Linda Partis from Daventry with
89 points.
Nearest the pin on the par three seventh was Sue Adam, from Daventry.
Nearest the line on the fifteenth was Joan Dennis, from Rugby
Golf Club.
Daventry Mixed Open took place on Sunday with 32 pairs taking part.
The weather was not at its best but most of the field made it in before the worst downpours.
The format was Greensome stableford, with additional prizes for Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive and Nearest the Line for the Ladies.
Winners were Steve and Lema Townsend, from Overstone Golf Club, with 42 points. Second place went to Andrew Davies and Pat Clarke, from Daventry, with 40 points.
In third place were Rob Mills and Judith Fenton from Daventry with 37 points and in fourth place were Paul Graham from Collintree and Molly Graham, from Wellingborough, with
35 points.
Nearest the pin for the ladies was Karen Bustin from Northampton Golf Club. Nearest the Line was Jean Poolton from Daventry.
Nearest the Pin for the men was Frank Bustin from Northampton Golf Club.
Longest Drive was Jim Morton from Northants County Golf Club.
Daventry Men played their ninth handicap league match at home on Saturday against Silverstone Golf Club. With two games won, two games halved and two games lost came out
narrow winners six holes to three.
Men's July Medal: Div 1: 1, Guy Gibbins, 77- 12 nett 65; 2. Mick Worthington, 74-9, nett 65. Div 2: 1, Bob Woodcock 84-19 nett 65; 2, Peter Montgomery
84-17 nett 68.
Div 3: 1, Ian Robinson 92-27 nett 65; 2, Kevin Tarbox 88-22 Nett 66.
